To better manage our growth in our retail and rental business we are creating a new position for a dedicated Retail Merchandiser who will help take our stores to the next level.
The Retail Merchandiser will be responsible for all product displays, pricing, and signage. This position will also be responsible for monitoring inventory, leveraging POS data, and staying ahead of product sourcing needs. This person should also have in-depth knowledge of the local industry, best practices, and the competitive landscape.
To ensure success as a Retail Merchandiser, you should possess expert time management skills and legitimate interest in surpassing customers’ expectations. Outstanding Retail Merchandisers will combine their developing knowledge of the industry, with findings from local customer research and behaviors, to maximize the sale of our products.
Retail Merchandiser Responsibilities:
- Using the best seasonal layout, leverage the most lucrative spots in each store and position products appealingly.
- Keeping a regular check on inventory to ensure that stores are furnished with sufficient products/supplies at all times and in all seasons.
- Clearing expired, broken, and otherwise unsuitable products from the displays and processing those goods correctly.
- Tracking sales to monitor the performance of each core product category. Compare to both historical figures and current forecasts.
- Suggesting special offers and discounts on products.
- Make sure the store staff executes holiday sale promotions correctly with all signage, pricing, and customer communication.
- Advocate for the replenishment of supplies, if appropriate. Help place some purchase orders when necessary.
- Pull internal staff feedback and input to ascertain the viability of items, product-related concerns, and possible gaps in the market.
- Motivating for the discontinuation of items that have not gained traction or have been in the stores too long.
- Occasionally hold staff product training or schedule clinics with reps.
- Performing occasional competitor analyses to ensure that we always stay ahead in all key areas.
- Help coordinate cyclical in-store inventory counts of key items with trusted staff members.
Retail Merchandiser Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, finance, or another relevant field is preferred.
- Prior experience as a retail merchandiser, visual merchandiser, or similar.
- Computer literate. Experience creating signage artwork is helpful.
- Experience conducting market research is helpful.
- Develop knowledge and increase the expertise in ski industry products
- The ability to create appropriate and engaging product displays is very important.
- Ability to manage vendor relationships along with supplier marketing promotions and promotional pricing windows
- Forecast and communicate emerging trends and make creative decisions that delight our customer base
- Excellent verbal and written communication.
